On this night, many eons ago, an evil so terrible and petrifying was sealed away in the darkest abyss by the strongest wills and powers of the ancient ones of Earth's darkest past. His name was Caharact- a cruel and senseless being from some unknown place. Many speculated, when those who remembered Caharact lived, that he was a creature born of the evil essence of this world. Others believed that he was a creature from some distant star, come to destroy them all for disobedience to the many gods of their beliefs during those days. Though the tales vary as to what he is and where he came from, one thing is certainly true amongst all of the tales told: Caharact was evil and unstoppable in his designs. For, he truly was a cunning one.

It happened that several wise men from the ancient races came together to get rid of Caharact once and for all. The elves, the dwarves, the gnomes, the halflings, the pixies, the sprites, and many of the now unknown races of faerie, came together to discuss what to do about this creature that was destroying life for them all. Even the trolls and hobgoblins played a part in trapping Caharact, but that story will have to be told another time.

As the faerie folk were gathered together, there were many doubts and concerns amongst their own ranks as to who could be trusted and who could not, for Caharact had promised many an unwary traveller to do his biddings by on device or another. So, to settle the dispute of who was trustworthy, the most powerful of the mages stepped forward and, one by one, all were checked for both conscious and subconscious spies.

Then, as they were getting ready to sit down for their conference, the unexpected occurred. An alarm sounded, marking the invasion of their meeting by an uninvited guest. When they brought him forth, many were surprised to see that it was a young human from a tribe nearly destroyed by the hand of Caharact.

"My name is Tra-kai," the young lad began, as two dwarves brought him to his knees before the council. Looking a little hostile by the way he was treated by the dwarves, he looked at his escorts and then to the tallest wood elf there and continued. "I have heard, by word of faeries whom I know and truat that this council has come together to destroy Caharact." With that, many murmurs were sent rippling through the masses.

"If he knows about this meeting, then who else knows?" He heard one frigthened pixie proclaim.

"I've told no one! I only wish to be a part of your council or, at the least, a part in your plan!" And so it was. Tra-kai, after many hours of debate, was let in on the plan, with little understanding as to what a major part he would play in the future events.

Caharact had no need of castle, nor fortress, nor any means of defense, for he could sense danger in the slightest degree and destroy any and all who opposed him with the merest flick of his finger. Despite those abilities, however, Caharact preferred to face his enemies head on and destroy them in the cruelest ways possible. Death and destruction are what he fed on and even hungered for.

As he sat in the midst of a bloodsoaked field of battle, he licked clean the bones of his enemies and reveled in the memory of the fears and terrors which he had made real in the lives of his prey. Then, sensing someone approaching with a crude weapon from behind him, he slowed his licking and began to chuckle in his evil way. The thought of the fear he was about to cause made his saliva fall more quickly. It was like a thirst being ready to be quenched. Suddenly, without warning, Caharact spun and howled right in the face of his would be attacker... none other than Tra-kai. He stood there with his mace held high in the air, not flinching a muscle.

Caharact had faced many valiant foes who sought his life, but none like this. He could see that there was something different in the young boy's eyes that he had never seen before, and this made Caharact stop. As he did, a sudden flare shot from the mace and hit him right between the eyes. Stunned, he staggered and made a lunge for the boy, but he was gone.

Now, in his place, were the eldest of the faerie folk. Every one with either staff or hand extended. Never before had the creatures of this world united in sucha way that they would be willing to face him. And never did it once cross his mind that in the confusion he was reaping that any two, let alone all, would be so brave as to try an attempt on his life. He did not have to spin to know that he was surrounded. He knew that this would take much of his strength, and so he prepared his attacks in his mind. "First, the leaders, then the weakest." For he knew all too well that if the leaders were destroyed, then others may flee. And if he destroyed the next on down to the weakest, it is often the weakest that fight the hardest to their death. But before he could make a move, something again surprised him. His feet were sealed to the ground and he could not move.

Exerting all of his powers, Caharact began to pull darkness towards him and those creatures that were inherintly evil, began to buckle and then attack the other faeries. While the elders continued to weave their spell, Tra-kai showed up once again and threw a small, carved box at Caharact. Once the box hit him, he was able to move once again and darkness encirlced the two. Fearlessly, Tra-kai lunged at Caharact with all his might and the mace was jerked from his hands. lifted by his ankle, Tra-kai was still as could be. Caharact moved him slowly towards his huge toothy mouth, trying to gather fear from the boy. Then, as he went to shove him in his mouth, Tra-kai pulled out a locket of his mother's hair and threw it in Caharact's throat.

The locket made him choke and, as he tried to reach for it, Tra-kai held the mace up high above his head and screamed, "Thou cursed beast! For all of the destruction for which you were a part!" And he slammed Caharact up side the head with the mace. Caharact fell to the ground, still choking. "For all of the people and creatures whom I held dear," and he hit him again. The lock began to grow and Tra-kai picked up the box. "This was my mother's. The hair which you choke on was hers. And the suffering you will face, is brought by all those whom you killed." And with that, Caharact was sealed in the box, and tha darkness was lifted.

When he reappeared, the elders were astonished, as this was not how their spell should have worked. Tra-kai held up the box for all to see and the explanation, which has long been forgotten, was told to them. The box was sealed away and has never been seen since...

Until recently...

A body was uncovered, deep in the depths of the earth, where no bone nor root was found. Just a boy, clutching a wooden box. And now, Amazing Guy has been called in to help unravel the mystery of the box, with no warning as to what is inside!!!
